My comments are late, but may be worth hearing still...

Dear Ms. Chow,
In regard to 75 Willow Rd, I have to express my concern over the
proposal to build high density housing on this lot. I am fairly new to
infield Oaks - 2 years which is quite a newbie compared to many long
term residents you must be hearing from. I must confess, I live in the
Classics, 520 Laurel. We were drawn to the location & the chance to buy
a low-maintenance (ha!) home at a reasonable price. Albeit I do have
the largest lot, & on the corner which means I don't feel like I'm a
sardine between my neighbors. I love my home... but I must say I often
doubt if this was a good investment. The construction quality is poor.
Every day I notice things that were done shoddily for the sake of a
developer's low budget. The walls are thin & the floor is uneven; the
sprinkler valves leak & the rocky soil fill has no drainage; the
stairwell banister wobbles & the cold air return is on the second floor
ceiling where all the HOT air rises, the chimney is cracked... you get
my point. I assume more of the same is in the works for 75 Linfield (&
Homewood). I don't see what the future is for these houses. There is a
limit to what the owners can do because of CC&Rs & who really truly
wants to make the investment to fix what should NOT be broken. This is
not a quality solution for Linfeild Oaks. ( Not to mention the impact on
traffic... While we're at it why not connect Willow to El Camino or Alma
through to Palo Alto.) Linfeild Oaks has it's appeal & these changes we
are talking about will change it forever. Why is 75 Willow not being
used for the school district??? This is the greatest need we have. As
a mother of two children approaching kindergarten I know this is
something we need most. The alternative will continue to overburden our
schools & manipulate the integrity of the system. There is a limit & a
point which things decline.
When my husband & I discuss our '5 year plan', Menlo Park is not in the
picture. What future do we have if the young families are committed?
Sad.
Thanks for listening.
Regards,
Christine Gertner
