Dear City Council,
I was stunned and completely depressed when I heard the news that
Kepler's shut its doors yesterday.
Isn't there anything the city can do to help Kepler's stay open? I know the
city has been working hard to make Menlo Park a better environment for
businesses: surely there must be some kind of incentive or aid the city can
give to a business which is, for my family, at least, one of the only
reasons we come to the downtown Menlo Park shopping district on a regular
basis.*
Menlo Park needs a bookstore: what kind of a city doesn't have a bookstore?
And Kepler's is an extraordinary one.
Sincerely yours,
Alaina Sloo

Menlo Park
(* Although I try to spend my shopping dollars in Menlo Park, the only
other things that consistently bring us to downtown Menlo Park are the
library, Trader Joe's, and the farmer's market, in case you were wondering.)
