WebCam at Bedwell Bayfront Park?

Sunday, October 31, 2010 Hello, While talking with a patrol officer this morning, I asked him if there was some way it might be possible to reduce the, "smash and grab" vehicle burglaries that happen from time to time inside the park entrance in the vicinity of the pump houses and gate.  Sorry, I did not ask the officer his name. He suggested that it would help to have a web camera installed that is linked to the MPPD dispatch office via the internet.  The officer mentioned that the pump building operated by South Bayside System Authority on the north side of the entrance to the park has an internet connection as SBSA monitors sensors within that building. The web camera could be mounted on the roof of the building and pointed at the park entrance in order to monitor traffic in and out of the park.  The building has a chain link fence around it, with additional razor or barbed wire along the top, so it is pretty well protected. It's only a suggestion, but the ability to record traffic through the gate would help MPPD narrow the field of "candidates" for further investigation when vehicle break-ins happen in the park. What would it take to have such a camera installed? Sincerely, Christopher T. List   Received on Sun Oct 31 2010 - 15:59:16 PDT
