I write to express my dismay at the Council's amazing plan to give Beverages and More a use permit.

Loyalty to your constituency precludes this -- Beltramo's is the second-oldest family-run business on the Peninsula, according to the San Mateo County History Museum. I would hope that civic pride would trump a short-sighted plan to reap short profits.

And they will be short: I live in Redwood City and I already make the drive to Menlo to patronize Beltramo's. If you allow a BevMo to ruin Beltramo's business, do you think I will continue to drive to Menlo to shop at a BevMo when there's one a mile from my house?
