Re: 2006 Summer Fees for Beechwood Student

I write to you with great disappointment to know that
no concern is being felt regarding summer fees for my
child who attends Beechwood School. As a concerned
parent whose child has participated in the Belle Haven
School-Age Program for the past 2½ years it’s very
disappointing to know Michael Taylor would not allow
my child to attend at most 2.5 hours during the summer
months without being charged the full Menlo Kids Club
fees. As my child will be in school until 3:00 p.m.
daily it makes no sense to me paying a deposit and
summer fees for something my child will have NO
participation in, i.e. Arts & Crafts classes,
Recreation Swim, Fields trips, such as Great America,
Marine World, etc.

I feel I should not be paying a deposit and summer
fees as I stated before, my child will be attending
for a total of 2.5 hours daily, which means my child
will not be allowed to enjoy ALL the summer perks the
Menlo Kids Club children will be receiving. I find it
very hard to believe this exception will reflect any
deficit gap the City of Menlo Park is facing. As I am
not trying to NOT pay fees, but would like to continue
paying my normal monthly fees while my child attends
during the 8 weeks of summer (1 week earlier than the
program actually ends).

As the school year comes to a close Friday, June 9th I
am at a lost for words that my child will not be
attending the program beginning June 19th for the
daily 2.5 hours because I do not feel the summer fees
are acceptable. I do feel if someone would look at
this from a time participation in the program, such as
my child being there for 2.5 hours anyone would be
able to understand my frustration. I feel as if there
are greater accomplishments to be met with the Belle
Haven School-Age Program in making it as great of
success as the Burgess Program, but this just goes to
show how much the City of Menlo Park is continuing to
alienate the Belle Haven School-Age Program once
again.

Sincerely,

Angel Dodson
