Hello from #NoMoreTears Movement! So Great Meeting You.

Hello Mayor Carlton,

It was truly a pleasure meeting you at the Global Girl Media event on
Saturday. Both myself and the whole #NoMoreTears group thank you for
attending, and thank you so much for your support of our project through
your donation. Your story reminds us that our past does not dictate the
success of our future, and that we all have the power to overcome the
obstacles in our lives. I know I speak for my team when I say that your
strength and courage has inspired us.

We really enjoyed hearing about the college savings fund initiative that
you launched at the schools in your district. Especially providing special
savings accounts for non-citizens. What a powerful way to get kids both on
the college track and keep them there through graduation. We volunteer in
communities all over the U.S. and believe your approach to be one of the
most innovative and effective approaches we've encountered.

We need more leaders like you who think of creative and effective ways of
enacting institutional change.

We would love to take a trip to Menlo Park with some of the kids and young
adults we are working with. Exposure to positive alternative lifestyles and
options is a big part of our campaign. And while many of the kids and young
adults we work with have read or heard about Menlo Park, many have never
been there. In particular, participating in any upcoming community based
initiatives, as well as touring Facebook would be one way that we would
love to get our team involved.

Per our conversation, you had mentioned submitting your story to the
#NoMoreTears movement. We would love to receive your story, if you feel
comfortable. There are two ways to submit. 1) through our website at
www.tearsinyoureyes.org or email tearsinyoureyes_at_(domainremoved)
has the potential to empower women all over the globe.

Just to recap some of our goals with the #NoMoreTears movement:

1) To create a safe space where those who are impacted by domestic
violence can feel comfortable to speak up and get the help that they need.
Our resource sheet is an example of how we are connecting anyone who
reaches out seeking support, with an organization that can address their
needs.

2) To teach teenagers and young adults about healthy relationships and
early signs of abuse through our Kick It Forward Campaign. We've committed
to donating 100 hours of community service to domestic violence shelters,
youth centers, and community-led initiatives.

3) To set a new standard for popular Hip hop music, which allows for and
encourages narratives with positive messages to flourish. Our artist,
A.S.H.E.S the CHOSEN, who you met, is setting the example through his song,
Tears In Your Eyes, which is the song that will be used in filming this
mini-documentary.

Once again, it was wonderful meeting you. Thank you so much for your
support, and please let me know how we can get involved in Menlo Park. I
look forward to hearing back from you.

Shirin E.
