Santa Cruz Avenue Sidewalk Project

I write in support of the Santa Cruz Avenue Sidewalk Project as a means to
*provide* a much needed safe route for pedestrians and bikers. As a
resident of San Mateo Drive at the bike bridge I see literally hundreds of
people walking, children biking to Oak Knoll, Hillview and private schools,
and *commuters to Stanford on a daily basis. For optimal safety it is
critical to have dedicated lanes and sidewalks on a busy thoroughfare as
Santa Cruz Avenue. Personally I bike to and through Palo Alto and Stanford
but my only Menlo Park destination is Burgess Park, and that is via the
Sand Hill Road trail and both bike bridges. The route to Menlo Park
downtown is neither comfortable nor safe for a biker. I urge you to
approve dedicated and protected sidewalks and bike lanes to provide safe
alternative transportation options for all. Thank you.*
