above ground utilities

Honorable council members,

Today Valparaiso is running one away traffic so that new utility poles can be erected on the Menlo Park side. I think I counted ten large PGE trucks working; meanwhile, throughout our city other trucks will be cutting off the tops of trees that may interfere with power lines.

Its a shame the cost of installing new 60' high poles is not going towards putting electrical and cable underground. Power poles are hundred year old relics that no longer belong on streets costing $8 million per acre.

The city has deferred a huge cost for too long. I urge you to begin a dedicated fund to put power and cable underground.
