Bike Lanes on El Camino

Hi,

I think the idea of bike lanes on El Camino is misguided. I am a regular
biker around the mid-peninsula area. I am also a regular driver. I feel
you should leave El Camino to the motorized traffic and focus on bike
friendly routes just off El Camino. My rationale is pretty simple:

- Try as we might, we do not have much of an options for "north/south"
traffic in this part of the peninsula. We essentially have El Camino and
Middlefield. I do not think that reducing lanes El Camino is a wise idea -
both from the standpoint of traffic and emergency vehicle right of way.

- We have options close to El Camino that I believe will be safer,
convenient and more pleasant to ride. Continuing the bike path that
currently ends at Urban Lane to the north would be highly desirable - but do
not put it on El Camino.

-

So I would appreciate seeing a plan (and a survey) that considers these
options.

Respectfully,

Stephen
