VA Palo Alto Leases Land to Build Housing for Homeless Veterans

VA Palo Alto Leases Land to Build Housing for Homeless Veterans
MENLO PARK, Calif. -- On October 29, 2014, the Department of Veterans
Affairs (VA) finalized a long-term agreement with Willow Housing, L.P.
to lease 1.99 acres on the grounds of the VA Palo Alto Health Care
System's Menlo Park Division. The Lessee will finance, design, develop,
construct and operate the 60 units of permanent supportive housing for
homeless and at-risk Veterans.
In cooperation with the city of Menlo Park, Willow Housing L.P will
begin construction of the 40,000 sq.ft. building on December 1, 2014.
Willow Housing L.P. has worked closely with the VA Palo Alto Health Care
System's design team to create a complex that contributes to the
California-Spanish architectural history and natural environment. The
project is scheduled to be complete in December 2015.

The VA Palo Alto Health Care System consists of three inpatient
facilities located at Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Livermore, Calif. Also,
there are seven outpatient clinics in San Jose, Capitola, Monterey,
Stockton, Modesto, Sonora and Fremont, Calif. These
nationally-recognized facilities provide award-winning medical care and
cutting-edge technology. Along with its education affiliate at the
Stanford University School of Medicine, the more than 6,200 staff and
volunteers operate nearly 900 beds, including three nursing homes and a
100-bed homeless domiciliary, showing its more than 85,000 enrolled
Veterans that they are "Serving those who Served."
