Re: Missing: June 3 Council Minutes re: Aquifer for Golf

Hi Brielle,
My memory of that meeting is that Vice Mayor Carlton and I both expressed that we wanted to cease "studying"
the project, but that direction from the other Councilmembers was contrary to that position. I will check in with staff to see when the minute will be returned to Council.

> Hi Ray:
> It has been since June 3, 2014 that many of us have wanted to see the minutes regarding the Council's decision on developing a policy on water and specifically the use of ground water. Below are the minutes that were rejected by the Council. Staff was asked to review the video of the meeting to ascertain what it was that Council had directed it to do. I attended the meeting and I have viewed the video. Albeit, the discussion tumbled about, until Alex claimed the City did not have the Staff depth to develop a water policy that would include an inventory of existing wells in Menlo Park. The result may have been that Staff would continue to "negotiate" with the Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club for a well dug at Lyle Park. Residents need to know what the final decision was.
> Too many times, a delay in finalizing council's decisions is a way to conceal a continuing relationship between the City and a potential applicant. Let's not forget that the SHGCC proposal has never been added to the Capital Improvement Program and yet Staff has spent 4 years entertaining the club's interests in this well/pipeline project that would extract water, a precious public resource.
> While the City is encouraging water conservation, it should also be developing a comprehensive ground water policy before facilitating the extravagant use of water for a golf course.
