and Their Family Members

Greetings!

On behalf of the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, we would like to
invite you to participate in our upcoming Mental Health Summit on
Thursday, September 11, 2014.

The purpose of the Mental Health Summit is to meet the mental health
needs and enhance the well-being of Veterans and their family members
through increased collaboration between the VA and the community.

Our goal for the Summit is to provide an opportunity for an active
dialogue on how we as a community can address the mental healthcare
needs of Veterans and their families.

Mental health and well-being is affected by a wide variety of issues and
the Summit will provide the opportunity to discuss many of these,
including:
* Services for mental health conditions, especially those
requiring urgent responses such as threats of self-harm
* Education and work opportunities
* Homelessness issues
* Involvement in the justice system
* Services for Veterans' families, and caregivers
* Veterans' experiences in the military and military culture

The objectives for the Summit include:
* Sharing of information about services available through the VA
and in the community.
* Identifying ways in which the VA and community partners can
interact more effectively to serve Veterans and their families.
* Developing a plan for continually renewing and expanding
partnerships between the VA and community organizations, agencies and
resources.

The Mental Health Summit will be held:
Date: Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
Location: VA Palo Alto Health Care System,
Building 105, Auditorium
3801 Miranda Ave., Palo Alto, CA

We will have limited table space available set up in the auditorium
which can be used to display brochures or other material describing
specific programs or agencies. Table space will be limited and shared
with others, please do not bring large posters, table cloths or any
equipment you may have. If you have any such materials you would like
to make available to other participants, estimate of 150, please feel
free to bring it with you. There will be time during the breaks and
