Modifying resolution regarding San Francisquito Creek Floodwall project

To whom it may concern,

I am just getting out of work and had hoped to make the meeting and vote tonight.
I would like to strongly urge you to modify the current resolution by deleting “and floodwalls” from the resolution, so it would read:

"If sufficient funding becomes available in the future, a 1 percent flood protection project upstream of Highway 101, including some combination of: modifications to the University Avenue and Middlefield Road bridges; upstream detention and underground bypass channels, could be constructed."

Deleting “and floodwalls” will allow a future 100-year project to proceed, while protecting our neighborhoods against floodwalls and the destruction of 4 miles of trees along San Francisquito Creek. To be FEMA-certified, only ground-cover (never trees or bushes) is allowed within 15 feet of any flood wall. That is not a tenable solution for our neighborhood.

Thank you very much,
Steve Lipman
