Re: no flood walls/no tree removal

From: Keith, Kirsten <"Keith,>

Hello Ms. Bryan,

Thank you for writing to express your concern with floodwalls upstream (west) of Highway 101. Please know that I share your concern. When this issue was raised previously, I expressed my belief that floodwalls would have severe negative impacts to our neighborhood and that they are a non-starter.

Please also know that tonight<x-apple-data-detectors://0> the Menlo Park City Council is NOT considering action related to floodwalls or any other potential work UPSTREAM of Highway 101.

Tonight<x-apple-data-detectors://1>, the only action we are considering is whether to authorize the City Manager to sign an agreement that enables the construction of a project on the creek between the Bay and Highway 101 separating Palo Alto and East Palo Alto. There are planned floodwalls for this Bay-Highway 101 portion that has seen repeated flooding, and this issue has been extensively discussed and agreed to by those cities.

Again, thank you for your email. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Kirsten Keith
Council Member &
Former Mayor

Dear City Council Members: First, thank you for your countless hours
of service to our community.

Second, please remove the mention of flood walls from the proposal
about flood control that you're voting on tonight.

I am also against tree removal. I have seen the pitiful concrete
"steam beds" in Palo Alto that used to be Materdero Creek. They are
so ugly that they blight the area.

I live along the creek in Menlo Park. The entire Willows
neighborhood has a treasure in the woodlands along Woodland Avenue.

Please consider all other possibilities for flood control but vote
NO on tree removal and high flood walls.

Thank you!
