Taking aquifer water to irrigate private golf course a bad precedent

To the Menlo Park City Council:

In the midst of a crippling drought which may well persist for a number of years, the Council needs to heed its Environmental Quality Commission and the many residents who oppose drilling a well in a public park to irrigate a private golf course. Given climate change and global warming, the City Council should instead focus on planning for gray water alternatives to fresh water for irrigating city parks. Aquifer water should be reserved for future ultra-dry years and for the benefit of the public, not private interests.
