Modification to the San Francisquito Creek Flood Protection Project

Dear Menlo City Council,

I would like to express my strongest support for community efforts to remove the floodwalls option from the planning process for a possible 100 year flood protection project.

I am a homeowner on the San Francisquito Creek (1097 Woodland Ave, 94025) and from the environmental, aesthetic, and property value angles I would be very concerned to see the mature trees on the creek threatened with removal. I believe that the proposed resolution could and should be amended to remove the floodwall option so that it reads:

"If sufficient funding becomes available in the future, a 1 percent flood protection project upstream of Highway 101, including some combination of: modifications to the University Avenue and Middlefield Road bridges; upstream detention and underground bypass channels, could be constructed."

Thank you for your consideration of my input,

Best regards,

Alexander Key
