30-year flood project, Floodwalls

Dear City Council Members:

You will be voting soon on the 30-year flood project funding and a 100-year
project floodwall option next week.

I am asking you, my elected officials, to vote against the use of
Floodwalls for the project.

Creating flood walls will cause the removal of 3 miles of beautiful trees
along the creek bed. These trees house many native creatures, these are
native trees and bushes, and they also add aesthetic beauty to the area.

 Please modify the resolution by deleting “and floodwalls” from the
resolution, so it would read:

"If sufficient funding becomes available in the future, a 1 percent flood
protection project upstream of Highway 101, including some combination of:
modifications to the University Avenue and Middlefield Road bridges;
upstream detention and underground bypass channels, could be constructed."

Thank you,

Amy Rolder
