Dear Honorable Mayor, City Manager, and Council

Please see attached comments about the City Manager's recommendation to
spend $150,000 on consultants to study the SaveMenlo initiative.

Also please see the attached excerpt from the Specific Plan's Final
Environmental Report (FEIR) with the assumed land use changes by sub area
in the Specific Plan area of 130 acres. It is important when considering
project proposals on the two largest sites (about 15 acres together), the
integrity of the 30-year Plan, and the validity of its financial and
environmental analyses developed by prior teams of consultants..

Remember, a major reason to create the Specific Plan was to guide
revitalization of vacant auto dealerships on those sites, create more
vibrancy along El Camino and Downtown, address the city's jobs/housing
imbalance with more transit-oriented housing, get away from ad hoc project
approvals and the need for individual projects to conduct their own EIR's
-- all the while supporting the community's vision of Menlo Park as a
desirable livable and walkable small town.

It is important for residents to understand what might happen if the
initiative's provisions are adopted, and what might happen if they are not,
especially in light of the two large projects currently being proposed..

Respectfully submitted,
Patti Fry, MP resident
