New school site on Elliott Drive

Dear Mr. Mayor and Menlo Park City Council Members:

We have lived on Elliott Drive since 1995. Unfortunately, we are out of
town and unable to attend the meeting tomorrow, Feb 6th, at Dave Encisco's
house. This email is in lieu of our attendance.

We strongly support the proposals which include access to the new school
via both Elliott Drive and Oak Court. Currently, Elliott Drive is already
overburdened with traffic for the German American School. It will only be
heavier traffic with the higher enrollment in the new public school. It is
unsafe for the children attending if ALL the traffic for the new public
school is absorbed by Elliott Drive, and by extension, O Connor. (O Connor
already serves as a conduit for other schools). Furthermore, it is unfair
that Elliott absorb all the traffic for the new school when Oak Court can
provide an additional access route. Since the new school is for the
benefit of all neighborhood children, it is only fair that the impact be
shared by the neighborhood as well.

We are concerned with the attitude of the Oak Court residents who do not
want access through their street since it would be clearly safer for two
access points. Oak Court is not a private road. We feel strongly that the
traffic burden of the new school be spread out among the two streets.

Thank you for your consideration.

Andrea and Gary Schoen
