School Bus 90-Degree Turn on Oak Ct.

Ahmad,

Today you brought a school bus to Oak Ct. and when asked if the turn into
the school parking lot could be made without

crossing into the other lane or with cars parked along the street, the
driver said he could do it because he has been driving

for 13 years. This is in contradiction with accepted test data for
conventional school buses that need a 37 ft. outer radius

and 27 ft. inner radius for a 90-degree turn [Report No. FHWA/AR-98-008
funded by the US Dept. of Transportation).

It strikes me that you brought the bus here but did not make the turn.
Instead, the driver made a 5-point turn using the small

cross-street also called Oak Ct.; I would like you to demonstrate the turn
as we can open the gate to the school.

I am confident you will promptly demonstrated the turn as you are concerned
about safety and the wellbeing of the residents

and this is a matter of high importance to us. Please let me know if you
can do it tomorrow (Wednesday) or by Friday at the

latest and the time as I would like to be present.

Dr. Nelson Pedreiro
