CJCJ's interactive map and a new report using 2012 data show 58

dependence on state prison in light of California's 2012 slight crime
increase. It finds,

"no conclusive trends demonstrating a causal relationship between
Realignment and crime."

Cameo House to coordinate with probation and sheriff on release on

While late night release of women from county jails can cause
problems, in San Francisco solutions are in the works

CJCJ's Director of Women's Services, Danielle Evans, discussed the
need for multi-agency collaboration and pre-release planning for
women with New America Media this month.

Current law dictates that an individual held in county jail must be
discharged before midnight on their release date; however, many
people are released during late night hours when there is no access
to public transport or shelters.

Danielle reaches out to the women who plan to enroll at Cameo House,
before they are discharged. The residence is staffed 24/7 and

This year several family members, friends, allies, and supporters,
helped us provide a joyful holiday season to our youth

The holidays can be a challenging time for our young people. Faced
with limited economic means and often with children of their own, the
youth in our care can struggle to obtain the basic necessities to
live in the Bay Area. Fortunately, many of you came to the rescue
this year.

The West Bay Men's Division of Mentor, Discover, Inspire (MDI),
kindly "adopted" five of our wraparound families through their
Operation Elf project. MDI volunteers provided both practical and fun
gifts for the whole family, including laundry products, school
supplies, food baskets, and electronics.

CJCJ friends and family members also raised $520 and contributed
through our Amazon wish list, supplying our youth with headphones,
hair straighteners, watches, jackets, and I-pods. These gifts were
not only well received; they demonstrated to our youth that their
community values them. For more information about our fantastic
donors, read You mentor, discover, and inspire us! -

Our juvenile justice services were not the only programs to receive
your generous assistance this winter. You contributed to our "safe

gifts and festive activities for our mothers, fathers, and children
at Cameo House and the Children's Waiting Rooms.
