Pope-Chaucer bridge and flood walls

Hello Menlo Park City Council,

I am a resident of the Willows neighborhood. The recent news of a 100 year
flood protection bridge at the Pope-Chaucer crossing has me deeply
concerned. I am concerned that the plan requires the removal of up to 100
heritage trees, ignoring Menlo Park's commitment to trees and not
considering the environmental impact of such a project.

I ask that you hold the San Francisquito Creek Joint Powers Authority to a
higher standard and require them to select an alternative to the two
current proposals.

Given that we live in the middle of Silicon Valley amidst a severe drought,
I believe that there are many, innovative solutions which would provide
flood protection while potentially even using the valuable water. This
seems much better than simply building channel a massive channel to quickly
divert water to the bay, while damaging our precious environment.

Sincerely,

Lori Callaghan
