Emerging MP Plans

Dear Council and Planning Commission,

As 18 year residents on Valparaiso Avenue we continue to be perplexed at the lack of progress being made on the clean up and development of El Camino Avenue. Specifically from Valparaiso/ Glenwood down through Oak Grove and in the area of the former dealerships on the other side of Menlo/Ravenswood streets. Now hearing about possible plans to put mixed-use buildings or a covered marketplace in the downtown area makes little sense to us while the surrounding streets are so blighted, unused and unattractive
coming into our city. We favor developing and cleaning up those areas before increasing the downtown density.

Having only attended a couple of Council meetings, we plan to come more often and hope to educate ourselves better about the challenges the Council has to develop MP and how best we can support you and the city.

Thank you for all your efforts on our behalf as we know it is no easy job and far easier to give feedback than tackle the big problems.

Best,

Kim and Tyler Glenn
