Dear Council,
As a Menlo Park homeowner since 1984, I urgently recommend you to fund sidewalks on Santa Cruz. This main thoroughfare to downtown now has a growing population walking to downtown. We have students, mothers and babies, and aging residents using the Santa Cruz corridor: we need a safe place to walk, not competing with autos and bicyclists. Make the right move now, and fund this long overdue necessity for safety.before someone gets hurt and the City is liable having neglected to make this a priority.
The City has money to fund sidewalks in various places in the City, noticed recently a piece of new sidewalk went in on Glenwood, meaning they have sidewalks on both sides of the street! If you want people to be "green" help make downtown more accessible by providing safe avenues for residents to walk downtown!
