THE HAND OF GOD is an unusual character in a fictional account of the end of the world called The Stand. As often happens at the end of the world a virus virtually wipes out everybody. It's justification and liberation of the "bad" people who go to war with the remaining "good" people for the end of world domination scenario. King's novel was turned in to a television mini-series called The Stand which was unlike anything else on television - - not just good but really inescapably good in a reality television kind of way.

The leader of the "bad" people a fictional character named Randall Flagg finally rolls a mega nuclear missle onto the runway somewhere in the mid west only to find that the "hand of god" character needs to litterally conjure up the energy creature version of the hand of god and detonate the nuclear missle right there on the tarmac and destroy all of the "bad" people at the same time. Somehow the hand of god character survives. As David Letterman would tell people "believe it or not ladies and gentlemen I am the hand of god."

If it weren't for the latest nuclear detonation from Microsoft and gang over the Yahoo "project" then silicon valley would resemble a tired little pastorial sprawl outside of the hub bub of the big cities. I segmented the silicon valley market so many different ways because believe high tech is here to stay unlike the special "project people".

The San Jose city plan for the 21st century is safely in the hands of a bureaucrat safely tucked away in the planning department - - webmaster.planning@sanjoseca.gov - - who will someday grow into a real world politician. I think it should go to a business person like myself who has a great new business based in silicon valley with a sucessful track record.

The plan for the 21st century in silicon valley based on the San Jose experience is turn on the lights and immediately watch the city go into debt because they litterally are not able to pay the bills to run the city at full throttle every day. Surprised. Guess where the problem is - - i need a new city planner.

I think I'll talk to Palo Alto's Larry Klein next because Chuck Reed's people have not yet returned my emails and telephone calls. Is there a need for a real plan for silicon valley in the 21st century?

No.

Trust the business people to develop a comprehensive plan. I'd say follow the big guys and park those new businesses not far from the real silicon valley anchor stores like Palo Alto's Hewlett Packard San Jose's Hitachi Cupertino's Apple and Palo Alto's NING which have charted the course for american business so far.

I'm probably barking up the wrong tree in San Jose because rumor has it that Chuck Reed and his yet-to-finish-high-school side kick Police Chief Robert Davis are not just bad people they horribly enough anti-business and of course totally without a real vision for the future. Try getting Robert Davis to write his memoirs and see what happens next. Actually there's not much to look forward to according to many of the end-of-century hangers on.

Even the chambers of commerce and the entrepreneur centers and the convention centers and small business associations are mysteriously enough anti-business lately. Result is that it's very difficult if not impossible to put technology and political people together to arrive at a real 21st century plan for the entire silicon valley population instead of just for some odd "group of people" .

Although it's not really strategic planning it is in fact real business plan development. It requires a lot of current data and quantative analysis. It takes into account that it really is a new century. My methodology is reading up as much as possible and visits to new places around high tech cities. It's visiting various retail and government locations and conducting a first version numbers analysis at the county level for santa clara and san mateo counties.

The music in the parks concerts are almost as bad because they continue to lack real top notch musical talent - - the buzz was the most exciting unknown group to appear however the up and coming talent all took second string to the local talent featuring the escovedo band.

TIME TO GET BACK TO WORK It just so happens that people need to forget the fun of fighting with people everyday over the rules and routines of the reign of terror rullelenska - - also known as quit messing around with the kids. Even they have to get their summer jobs together.

After an eight year stint of celebrating the new millenium every body is still confused because it's a very difficult moment. Is it really just a waste of time messing around all day?

Yes it is.

Did I go to college for a reason? And most of all why is it a persistent anti-business attitude in San Jose? These and other questions are answered when people get back to work and do the jobs that they are paid to do. I myself decided to call the police only to find out that they do sometimes really need people to stay very busy so they can get the )(**(*%*))(@@!)_#@_) idiot that's still trying to shake everybody down. Mondays are my favorite day anyway.

The Bush family did not hesitate to take advantage of the moment to break every concevable law on record and then push through the patriot act as the reason for it all. I myself have not seen my family back in newark new jersey for 8 years and i'm really through celebrating. You know it's time to sober up when the most exciting new thing is another bad week at work.

Here's what I've picked up from the 21st century strategic plan for silicon valley - -

institute for the future
stanford research institute

MAYOR OF THE WEEK is of course Gavin Newsom - - Gavin Newsom ties the knot in Bitterroot Montana - - who has yet again decided to succeed from the general assembly of the silicon valley city states and really make money. A strategic plan is not quite what people need. They'd rather have great food.

CONCLUSION the valleylist point of view is built around working with the news and the numbers for 31 weeks in a row and really is based on 15 years marketing at the phone company

lets say there are 4  big conclusions

1. "valleylist" has already predicted the future for silicon valley
2. become members of valleylist network NING and make history
3. do people want to slice and dice silicon valley companies like what happened to yahoo
4. new ways of doing business have failed totally

people in san jose have an overwhelming urge to eliminate people - - blame the food.
