To the City Council of Menlo Park,
My husband and I went to the La Entrada school tennis court like we've done in the past and found the doors to the court locked. Surprised at the locked door, we came home and logged onto the city's website and found that there's a $45 user fee on an annual basis. While we don't personally object to the use as you go concept, we object to the fact that though we have no children attending Menlo Park schools, we're charged a supplemental tax every year at $311.00 just like others with children attending Menlo Park schools. This is above and beyond part of the property tax that goes to the public school system. The only thing we get out of the school system is the tennis courts! We are hereby requesting that the City Council provide a fair system to everyone in Menlo Park. We'd be glad to pay for the $45 per year tennis court fees if the City would stop charging us for a school system we don't use. If you need proof of us not using the school system, we'd be glad to provide any information you'd need.
Please let us know how we can get a waiver for the school system that we don't use so we can put that money toward the tennis court annual fee which we would like to be able to use.
Thank you.
