Dear City Council Members,
I am writing to express concern about speeding vehicles and the dangers of using crosswalks in the area of Middlefield Road between Willow & Ringwood. Cars use this stretch of Middlefield as a speedway and I fear for students and mothers with children who try to cross this road, myself included. I often cross on foot near the fire station at Middlefield and Linfield. With the crosswalk paint faded and cars moving at excessive speeds, I rarely have someone stop for me to safely cross the street. When I start to make it across the street, I must run and pray I'm not killed. My will is up to date but I would rather not have to consider that fact when simply trying to cross a road in the lovely city of Menlo Park.
I implore you to implement safety changes in this area including but not limited to clearly marked pedestrian crosswalks with additional signage warning vehicles of pedestrian right's-of-way and a speed enforcement campaign.
Thank you for your consideration,
Stephanie Saba
