TESLA MOTORS AND DR. DETROIT are a new direction in silicon valley. Totally blame Al Gore and the "anti-pollution" initiative. The Tesla success story is not quite there yet because electric powered cars are yet to be proven commercially stable. At the same time all businesses are interested in the new "anti-pollution" movement which was what a few people used to call the "green" movement. All silicon valley businesses are supposed to go green-friendly and find ways to stop pollution. The Tesla Roadster - - an all electric car - - is among the first to attain commercial acceptance.

Overseas expansion means own the breakthrough Tesla Roadster in is available in Europe. The award winning car is mentioned in all new car magazines for example - - INDEX INDEX Award 2007 .
The public release of a letter to Tesla Roadster customers has revealed some critical new details about everything from new Tesla stores and service centers to the development of "Powertrain 1.5."
Separately, Tesla's chairman Elon Musk said he expects to take his electric-car company public by the end of 2008. "We are trying to figure out if there's a way for Tesla customers to invest in that [series E] round," Musk said, according to CNET News. The state of the auto industry is such that SUVs have peaked at $100 per tank and $4.00 per gallon. " - - dealers can barely give away the giant ford expeditions and dodge rams and chevy suburbans cluttering up their lots. Development problems with the new hybrid cars leaves them very high in petrol consumption.
The anticipated all electric car from Chevy the "volt" wont be available until the next decade.

DR. NICOLA TESLA ACTUALLY INVENTED ELECTRIC POWER. Tesla: Master of Lightning provides a little background into how Tesla actually invented electric power as people know it. He proposed a standard which is now passe "direct current" The competition with the Edison Company standard of "alternate current" or "ACDC" - - as described in History of the Electric Power Industry . Electric power company has had to be closely regulated and subjected to intense regulatory scrutiny because they have an odd problem which was a need for a so called national standard. The public utility companies as we know them today - - closely regulated by the cities and states and national government as well as a large number of the usual consumer groups are the end result. If the idea is finding a new car then Yahoo! Auto's is the online resource of choice - - http://autos.yahoo.com/
Telsa Motors "Roadster" is an all electric car. The company has by passed regulatory problems by not going "anti-" . Instead Tesla is leading the way to the first completely marketable all electric car. What's required is intense partnership with city state and national regulatory agencies. Companies who need to develop a road map to the future are those who set the new regulatory standards through introducing new successful business and technology.
DOCTOR DETROIT is a movie that features the cast of saturday night live and follows escaped mental patient Dan Ackroyd all the way from his insane asylum to his successful stint as a phoney famous Mental Health expert with his own call-in talk show. In addition to the totally comic humor and expert timing the saturday night live cast is famous for, Dr. Detroit is a comic tour de force. The most important scene is the scene where Dan Ackroyd as Dr. Detroit commanders a school bus and swings back to the mental hospital to pick up his old buddies from the asylum and take them out to a baseball game. Just for fun of course. Dr. Detroit gets to toss out the first pitch.

HOLIDAY PEOPLE IN THE MIDST OF BUYING A NEW COMPUTER. It's an awful lot of fun. My drab holiday week end began at Taza a quaint Mediterranean cafe not far from San Jose City Hall. Without any plans I was mysteriously drawn to the malls. Valley Fair was the odd destination where yet again I had to try the new
MacBook Air at the always crowded Apple Computer Store. The real let down - - no new releases from apple this week. Across the way to Santana Row - - where the "cole haan" people suggested a project of "good stores" vs. "bad stores" . Good stores are for 21st century people in need of fun. Bad stores are for bad people who need a return to mideval values. All weekend it's people and designated good stores such as cole haan or z gallery or ovis or gucci as opposed to the bad stores such as sprint or antropologie or borders books or brooks brothers. Anything except the endless "fantasy version" of people who feel an incomprehensible need to "walk away" or run into the street after every cup of coffee or meal.
The San Jose Police Department incident du jour this week happened on The Alameda. I was waiting to purchase a cup of coffee only to find myself threatened with a punch in the face.
The reason? First I had to call the police to find out what triggered the "hit" . The officer "Castillo" diagnosed the situation "the thug wants you to never go to these coffee shops ever again [my favorite coffee shops of course]. When I asked "why" it was further explained that I didn't need to know why that it was just the deal. A much larger officer showed up a few minutes later and suggested I not complain or might just end up arrested. Again no apparent reason. A few hours later I called the San Jose Police Department and the response was yet again that this did not sound like an acceptable police response. This lead to contact from the police oversight committee or the Office of the Independent Police Auditor .
Final outcome is of course to file an official complaint at the SJPD station. In addition to the self-appointed capital of silicon valley San Jose is also the self-appointed safest big city - - I concur with the San Jose "Sharks" Fire Department . They must be making this up as they go along.
Mayor of the week - - again it's the all electric power theme that dominates. If it's not San Jose's Mayor Chuck Reed then it's Santa Clara's Patricia Mayahan Making a Green City Greener or City of Sunnyvale Julia Miller or Palo Alto's Larry Klein with the Our Green City .
The "all electric power" theme is in fact very expensive up front. There is a need to avoid future catastrophes. Much more impressive are the new solutions that are reducing gas house emissions. The San Jose "Sharks" Fire Department is even more skeptical than I am about the flawed concept that the mall capitol of the world [San Jose] is also among the safest big cities.
CONCLUSION - - Tesla Roadster is a great new car - - no way it's also all electric. Dr. Detroit had to walk everywhere. However any meaningful saturday night live movie needs its own good car chase scene. Most people will be find themselves chasing down Tesla Motors - - a company truly ahead of the pack - - for decades to come. Time to toss out the first pitch.
