Fellow Council Members,
As you all may recall, I've volunteered to help co-lead the effort to recruit local non-profit organizations to our upcoming Summer Block Parties. We've been reaching out to many organizations already, but I'd like to invite each of you to also send out invitations to any appropriate organizations that you think might want to participate. In the interest of time, we're not overly worried about being redundant in making contacts ... we'd rather err on the side of inclusion. Feel free to forward this information directly on to your contacts, or if you'd prefer, Katie or I would be glad to make the invitation to any of your suggested contacts. The focus is on non-profits who have a significant presence in Menlo Park, and they must be registered 501(c)(3) organizations.
Thanks,
/John and Katie
Menlo Park has designated the evenings of June 25th, August 6th and 20th for the "Healthy Communities" Block Parties. Santa Cruz Avenue will be closed to traffic to create ample pedestrian space as we enjoy food, music, and fun. We'll still be having our annual Summer Concert Series at Fremont Park, but on the dates above, you can also stroll along Santa Cruz Avenue for dining, shopping, and checking out the local organizations and entertainment.
This year, we're extending an invitation to local non-profit organizations to participate in this community-wide event. Qualified organizations are invited to set up a booth or table to highlight their missions. This will be a great opportunity for our community to learn about the MANY wonderful non-profit organizations serving our community. We'd love to have your organization participate. Please see attached Block Party registration form for the Non-Profit Organizations. The quick summary:
There is no charge to qualified non-profit organizations to participate. Our focus for this non-profit area is on organizations with a significant presence in Menlo Park, either through facilities, volunteers, delivery of programs, or served clients. Organizations must also be a registered 501(c)(3) organization to participate in this area of the Block Party.
Ideally, the Block Party committee would like to start assigning spots the week of June 9th, so the sooner a group submits its registration form, the better.
PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD. If you are aware of any non-profit organizations who might be interested in participating, please forward this message to them and/or point them to the registration form and information available at the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce website.
My apologies if you've received multiple invitations to participate. As a volunteer "startup" operation, we're just trying to ensure that everyone feels welcome!
Best regards,
/John
