May 10th for a lively discussion on climate action with Stanford climate scientist Dr. Michael Mastrandrea and technology inventor and local climate action leader Dr. Armand Neukermans. These experts will share their thoughts on how climate change will affect us locally and effective steps we can take to work together to reduce our community's carbon footprint. Outreach efforts need your help to be successful in 2008!

Menlo Park DowntownStrong attendance, lively debate, and some great ideas characterized three recent Community Workshops on the future of Downtown and El Camino Real.

 

Please continue to make your voice heard as the community develops a conceptual plan for the look, feel, and functionality of Menlo Park's central business district that is broadly supported by the community.  The following two workshops are upcoming:

 

Planning Commission Workshop

Mon. May 19, 7pm, Little House, 800 Middle Avenue, Menlo Park

 

City Council Workshop

Tues. June 10, 7pm, City Council Chambers, 701 Laurel Street, Civic Center

 

Urban planning speaker series will continue on Wed. May 14, 6pm with

Menlo Park Police Patch1. For the first time in many years, the Menlo Park Police Department is fully staffed.  Staffing on the Regional Gang Task Force will commence May 14.  Traffic Enforcement Motorcycle Patrol is coming soon.  Automatic cameras for red light violations at Willow Road and Bayfront Expressway are now operational; warning period will continue to June 5.

 

2. Welcome aboard to Alex Andrade (Business Development Specialist), who is now working alongside Dave Johnson (Business Development Manager) to retain existing businesses and recruit new ones to keep our city's economy vibrant. 

 

3. Audrey Ramberg, Assistant City Manager, will be leaving May 16.  Cynthia D'Agosta, Executive Director of San Francisquito Creek JPA has left to head Committee for Green Foothills.  Many thanks to you both for your years of dedication to serving the people of Menlo Park!
