At the planning commission meeting of March 10, 2008, I spoke against granting Beltramo's Investment Co. an extension to their project on 1500 El Camino. Our concern was more delay in the project and perhaps they were looking to abandon this project in favor of seeking a higher density project in the future.

I have since received communication from Daniel Beltramo assuring me that they have no intention of changing their development plans. The do not wish to go through another planning process having spent a considerable amount of time, money and effort on the present design.

The delay all centers around the environmental issue which has been discovered on the site. Their request for a 2 year extension at the PC was reduced to a one year extension and they have appealed this decision to the City Council. They are requesting that the original 2 year extension be granted. The hearing is set on the Council agenda for April 22, 2008.

I wish to retract my objection to the issuance of a 2 year extension but would hope that the project could be started sooner. I urge the council to grant their appeal for the full 2 year extension.

        Sincerely
