Dear City Council Members,

Attached, you will find a 2020 work plan recommendation from the Environmental Quality Commission. This information builds off what we shared in 2019, but highlights the need for both an updated Climate Action Plan (CAP) and additional action in 2020.

Since December the EQC's CAP Subcommittee identified the cost, both financial and GHG, of delayed action for the city and necessitated an EQC special meeting on Monday.

At our meeting we explored how Menlo Park could update the CAP and take action to address the climate crisis. The attached memo is the result of their work and our special meeting. The memo includes a proposed new structure for the CAP, CAP metrics to track, and proposed climate action priorities for 2020.
