CLOSING THE TRAIN STATION

Honorable City Council:

Per the Staff Report attached, the Town of Atherton is considering closing permanently the TRAIN STATION.

If that is the case, more cars and travelers will likely use the Menlo Park - Train Staton instead, increasing the traffic, parking and demand on city services. As such, is this something you'd want to chime in on?

Frankly, with all the current development on El Camino Real, Oak Grove Avenue, Merrill Street and beyond, this potentially could tip the scales. As such, would an ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT (EIR) be appropriate?

A discussion at the ATHERON CITY COUNCIL meeting on this topic is scheduled to be on their agenda as Item #16, as part of their "Regular" Agenda, as follows:

DAY: Wednesday

DATE: January 15, 2020

TIME: 7:00 pm

PLACE: 150 Watkins Ave., Atherton (Jennings Pavilion)

If Menlo Park has any thoughts on this, it may be helpful for someone to attend and express their concerns. Thus the critical topic of an eventual GRADE SEPARATION may also be a timely and relevant issue.
