I am appalled to read that you are considering using tax generated income to hire new employees for what clearly appears to be a nonessential job. In this era of communities incurring huge future retirement benefit liabilities with no real way to pay for them, it is unconscionable to add further burden to our city for nonessential programs. This coming from a city council that allows huge corporate development with its attending negative impact on the quality of life of its residents - but can’t seem to come up with the funds to build adequate downtown parking facilities. Local residents can’t go to their bank or the post office or support local businesses between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM because there are no vacant parking spots in the few city parking lots. Your time would be better spent trying to resolve quality of life problems for city residents. If you cannot understand that then maybe you need to be replaced with someone who can.
