Dear City Council-

I have long advocated the Onetta Harris campus and the best home for a new library and as the population of the Belle Haven neighborhood grows and changes, the rebuilt community center will be critical to the needs of the neighborhood. As has become clear through the many traffic studies, there are limited options for Menlo Park to make our streets flow smoothly enough to enable a trip across town for a class and back in a reasonable amount of time. I also think the new community center should include a satellite city office where city services/personnel could be available to Belle Haven residents closer to home.

The community is in desperate need of a new library. I urge you to move forward expeditiously with the new project as the community has already waited too long for a full branch library and I'm hopeful that we can streamline the next phase of community input so as not to delay the library any more than necessary.

The literacy rates of your entire community are reflective of your values as a community. Just because the city doesn't run the schools doesn't mean it doesn't have some responsibility to improve those numbers. Do the right thing and move this along as quickly as possible. I'm imagining that years of resident input can be collected in one place to help move this along.

Thanks for your efforts,
