Honorable Mayor and Council Members:

As you know, the city of Menlo Park has only ONE CEMETERY, it being the Holy Cross Cemetery located on Santa Cruz Avenue, near Ivy Street. The cemetery caters primariy to those of the Catholic faith, whereby others tend to look to other cities for an eternal resting place.

In January, the Council oftens discusses goals, projects and priorities for the coming year. Would you be open to including in that discussion the possibility of offering a non-denominational CEMETERY? One potential location is the BEDWELL-BAYFRONT PARK. This 160-acre park may be an ideal place with views overlooking the Bay, in a "passive" park that caters to quiet use.

This may also bring in badly needed FUNDS to help cover the costs of keeping the park open, such as for the Park Ranger, landscaping maintenance and enhancements, signage, trail repairs, etc.

HAVING A CONVERSATION about this topic can help clarify whether it should be looked into further, or not. Finding a vendor should be easy, making this more a policy issue for you than a construction issue. If needed, additional information can be provided. If two things are certain, death and taxes, then this topic is certainly deserving of your attention.

THANK YOU for your time and consideration and for all you do on behalf of this special place we call MENLO PARK.
