*Community Workshops*

Community Workshop #2 will take place this _Thursday, April 3_ at 7:00 p.m. in the Recreation Center Ballroom (701 Laurel Street). At this workshop, the community will begin to create a vision for the El Camino Real corridor. Participants will first hear about all of the input that has been received to date, and a range of potential alternatives that have been developed to help guide the discussion. Then, workshop participants will break into small groups to provide feedback on the alternatives, possibly combining and modifying ideas and adding new proposals to agree upon a vision. The exercise will conclude with a summary from each group. This workshop will set the stage for a similar visioning exercise for Downtown at Community Workshop #3 on _Thursday, May 1_. The respective draft visions will then be reviewed together at the Planning Commission Workshop on _Monday, May 19_.

Community members are highly encouraged to distribute the flyer [ http://service.govdelivery.com/service/edition.html?code=CAMENLO_176&dat e=4/3/2008&format=PDF ] for this event to all potentially interested parties. Everyone is hoping for another great turnout at this event, in order for the vision plan to truly represent the community's interests.

*Speaker Series*

The next educational forum will take place _Wednesday, April 9_, with Jeff Eichenfield of Eichenfield & Associates speaking on "Twelve Ingredients for a Successful Downtown." This event will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the Menlo Park Library Basement Conference Room at 800 Alma Street ("please note that this event will not take place in the City Council Chambers, due to a scheduling conflict"). Past presentations can be viewed online via the project web page [ http://www.menlopark.org/projects/comdev_ecrdowntown.htm ].

*Oversight and Outreach Committee*

The Oversight and Outreach Committee will meet on _Thursday, April 24_ to discuss the results of Community Workshop #2 and to review the draft process for Community Workshop #3. This meeting will be open to the public, and comment will be welcomed. This event will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Recreation Center Fireside Room (701 Laurel Street).
