Dear City Council Members,

I just read the staff report on newsracks and have two more comments:

First: Since newspapers are already struggling, the last thing we should do is extract fees from them. They provide valuable local coverage to us for free. The least we can do is to refrain from gouging them for the privilege.

And second: Burlingame has one of the ugliest and most boring and generic downtowns on the Peninsula.
For goodness sakes, don’t use them as your model!

Different colored racks with different styles is far more visually interesting.
Think of it as boutique newsracks as opposed to bland, generic newsracks.
Why must we be copycats anyway?
How about we preserve our unique character—at least what’s left of it.
