Dear City Council,
I am a educated, concerned Menlo Park citizen. We are a small town but we also are a town with significant resources compared to many others in the US. It is clear from the information of 97% of climate scientists that we have a crisis on our hands. We all need to be concerned, at every level, for the future of our known lifestyle. Fossil fuels, including natural gas, are the cause of our climate crisis. It is recommended that we invest in renewables as quickly as possible and arrive at a carbon neutral situation as quickly as possible. Any construction in this city should be required to not use fossil fuels. If we are wise, our economy with transition to more and more renewables which all produce electricity and not natural gas.
This seems very clear. By allowing the construction using natural gas, we are going backward. Solar and wind energy is our future. If you are not convinced by what the climate scientists say, you perhaps will be convinced regarding the cost of renewable energy decreasing quickly. Around the world it is now cheaper in the majority of countries.
Please make smart choices for the city and the world. Be aware and protect the world for your children and grandchildren.
