Reach Codes Vote

Honorable Mayor Mueller and City Council Members,
Tonight, I respectfully urge you to adopt the Reach Codes mandating the electrification of new construction projects. While San Mateo county's electricity comes from renewable sources, natural gas is among the single largest cause of carbon dioxide emissions. The Bay Area alone emits 47.2 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide yearly. If warming is to be capped low enough to avoid potentially cataclysmic feedback loops such levels cannot continue. Adopting the Reach Codes is an important step in making sure it does not, and will also increase housing affordability and safety.

Thank you for your leadership.
Andrew Pattarelli
