To: Menlo Park City Council:
At the council meeting this Tuesday, April 1st, 2008, let me urge you to vote to move the Quiet Zone study "above the line", so that it will be funded in the budget for our next fiscal year.
The Derry project is going to add 108 new residences very close to the rail line. Surely as a "quality of life" issue, the City should get quiet zones instituted for our City.
Atherton is moving ahead with quiet zones; Menlo Park should do likewise.
All legal and effectiveness issues have been addressed. It is time to move forward on this issue.
This is indeed a "quality of life issue" not only for those living near the tracks, but for much of the whole City. The train horn can be heard even 2 miles away on the Alameda. It is time it was silenced.
So please vote to move this item above the line and get this study funded for this next fiscal year.
