Please don’t invest $500,000 in polluting police cars

Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,

If you keep up with news on the climate issue and really understand it, you
will see that it is imperative, *absolutely imperative*, that we do
everything in our power to quickly reduce our carbon footprint.

This must be our number one objective. This is the new way we have to think.

In light of this reality, please postpone the decision to invest in 8
police cars that only get up to 24 mpg, and choose more efficient and/or
electric vehicles. There are certainly local experts who can help you
identify such options.

Thank you for making Menlo Park a leader in climate policy.

Policy makers must focus on making low carbon behaviors easy: "More often
than not, it is actually behavior that determines attitudes, not the other
way around. If our lifestyles are far from climate-friendly, then our
attitudes tend to follow." - Stoknes, 2015
