Please don’t invest $500,000 in fossil fuel-burning police cars

Dear City Council,

We all know we are in a climate crisis - We breathed the smoke from it last Fall, and it will only get worse if we do not take bold action now!

Please postpone the decision to invest in 8 police cars that get at best 24 mpg of fossil fuel, and consider getting much more efficient, preferably electric, or at least hybrid, vehicles.

There must be a dealer who can help get what will work for the police, that does not guzzle huge amounts of fossil fuel!

Menlo Park committed to reduce its carbon use - let’s do it!!

Thank you,

Re: climate change: Building a world that works for everyone is exactly what we should refocus our efforts on doing when we read scientific studies that scare the hell out of us. As the researchers point out, there’s still time that we have to take advantage of. That’s why it’s so damn important to act boldly. Now. ~ Eric Holthaus
