Support for the redwoods - tonight's meeting

I'm unable to come or to be at tonight's rally for the trees, but am there
in spirit, the spirit of the redwoods and the overwhelming support for
responsible landscape and building planning and oversight. Why must the
trees be sacrificed for the poor construction planning. The garage should
be re-built to remove the concrete that blocks their roots. It is the poor
building/landscape element that has damaged the trees, not the reverse.
Support the roof back a sufficient distance and try to remove the concrete
damaging the roots. Reduce their underground parking to save 30+ (?) years
of growth. Why wasn't the problem detected before both the trees and the
building were compromised? Look into 2-story above-ground parking along
the lot at the tracks in partnership with whoever owns the lot behind the
structure. Or some other solution.

But save the trees! Protect our urban canopy! Don't sacrifice the trees
for parking! Use the train parking lot or other options. Encourage
carpooling of staff.

Resident/homeowner since the 1980's, on Live Oak.
