The proposal to replace a 1-story restaurant with a 3-story office building is a looser for many reasons. It will increase traffic on an already congested strip of El Camino; it removes a source of sales tax revenue and city and county income; it increases city costs since offices generate no sales taxes but require significantly more in city services at higher cost than restaurants. It is unlikely the office uses will benefit many, if any, Menlo Park residents. This planned re-development is a bad idea and should be rejected.
