Tenant relocation assistance

Dear City Council,

I am aghast that this liberal socialistic tenant relocation assistance
ordinance has progressed as far as it has and appears poised to become law
in Menlo Park. From my vantage point as someone who was taught from a very
young age to earn my own keep and to live within my means be they meager or
generous I view this dangerous direction as a harbinger of a socialist
agenda with no end in sight. Only bad can come from this entire program. It
is a terrible idea, and I am vehemently opposed to any form of tenant
relocation assistance.

I urge you to deny the passage of any form of tenant relocation assistance
law in Menlo Park.

I am told by other property owners who are watching this issue that it will
most likely pass. Therefore, I strongly urge you to:

1. Choose the Redwood City option especially for five units and up.

2. Provide for public funding rather than imposing such unfair and onerous
costs on property owners.

3. That property owners retain the right to not renew leases upon their
expiration (rather than “just cause” requirements).

4. That whatever Council chooses be finalized by City Staff rather than
being sent to the Commission which is obviously radically biased in favor
of tenants.

I really just cannot believe this terrible piece of legislation which has
such far reaching and negative implications is about to be voted in to
become law. I urge you to vote it down.
