Housing Tenant Relocation Ordinance Alternative B

From: domainremoved <The>
Date: Sat, 23 Feb 2019 16:35:15 -0800

Dear Honorable Mayor Mueller and members of Menlo Park City Council,

Once again, we would like to thank you for your vigilant efforts to
find an alternative solution to the Commission’s Tenant Relocation
Housing Ordinance. We ask you not to consider Alternative B as
proposed by the Housing Commission, modified by Mayor Pro Temp Nash
and Councilmember Taylor. It is rent control in disguise.

Alternative A with some adjustments is a better option. It considers
the needs of tenants who are relocated, and does not establish a form
of rent control.

We are cognizant of the regional housing availability. We support
public efforts to seek and fund relocated tenants. We do not believe
that one specific group, Menlo Park housing providers, should be
targeted as the funding source. “It takes a village”, this is also
true in the case of collectively seeking public funds from all
communities, State, and business sectors to rectify our regional
emergency housing assistance program.

Sincerely,

The Chan family
