Honorable Mayor and Council Members:

While talking with downtown merchants, I get the clear message that over aggressive parking enforcement may be COUNTER PRODUCTIVE.
Why is this?  The answer is simply, it DRIVES BUSINESS AWAY. 

Being 1" over the white line, being a few minutes over the time limit and other offensives may result in AVOIDING MENLO PARK.
When MORE TICKETS are issued here than in all of the city of Redwood City, a city three times the size of Menlo Park, prompts one to think is this a helpful practice, or one that inhibits, restricts and limits the desire to shop here.
YOU DECIDE. Is there a better way?  Perhaps this topic can be placed on the agenda so that the public can weigh in, the staff can provide information and you can vote on what's best for the community.
