Concern regarding proposed Tenant Relocation Ordinance

Dear Mayor Mueller and Members of the City Council,

I object to this ordinance. I am a small landlord in Menlo Park with a
rental house on Iris Lane. I am retired and this is my primary income. I am
most concerned about the removal of the clause excepting the natural lease
expiration from landlord-caused termination. A lease is the basis for
both parties to temporarily transfer of property possession in exchange for
the specified rent. If lease expiration is not honored by both parties,
then property ownership is meaningless. I only use a one year lease and
renew it each year. This proposal effectively robs me of the ability to
manage my property and my ability to maintain it. What value is property
ownership if renting effectively entails loss of possession for an
indeterminate period of time?
