unjustified parking citation - the City of Menlo Park is accusing me of lying!

Hello - I wanted you to be aware of a situation that infuriates me. I received a parking citation several weeks ago for a violation of the overnight parking law, even though there was a correctly marked permit hanging from the mirror. Evidently, the officer was unable to see the permit on the dark, rainy night in question.

Per the city's instructions, I appealed the citation with a letter and photos taken the next morning showing the permit still on the car. Several weeks passed, and I completely forgot about the incident.

Then, just this past weekend, I received another letter from the Adjudication Processing Department, denying my request to overturn the citation. Their reason is that the evidence I submitted does not prove the parking permit was on the car AT THE TIME OF THE CITATION.

In effect, the City of Menlo Park is accusing me of lying, fabricating evidence and going to great lengths to get out of a parking ticket. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am an honest person, and I do not appreciate this assault on my integrity.

I am attaching my letter requesting a written hearing. I wanted the Menlo Park City Council to be aware of this situation. Hopefully, you can talk some sense into the bureaucrats at the Police Station who have created this mess.

Respectfully submitted,

Deborah M. Denny
